Using Land for Housing Inquiry

The Auckland District Council of Social Services works across the Auckland Isthmus, which is the
former Auckland City Council area. We also work at an Auckland regional level, particularly in the
specific area of housing, where we have a specialised committee including external experts and
housing practitioners meeting regularly. We are also active regionally in training and in advocacy
and submissions on social policy and on provision of community and social services.

2018 Census

ADCOSS is a networking, training and advocacy organisation for social and community service
organisations and personnel in the Auckland Isthmus area. We have about 100 members and
member organisations. We often make submissions on legislation and other consultations on
matters of public policy such as the content of the census.

More Effective Social Services

Auckland District Council of Social Services was formed in the 1970s to cover the area covered by
the Auckland City Council from 1989 and now works across five Local Board areas, including
Waitemata, Albert-Eden, Puketapapa, Maungakiekie-Tamaki, Orakei, and part of Whau.

Housing Options for Older People

The Auckland District Council of Social Services (ADCOSS) held a seminar on the topic of Housing Options for Older People in Auckland of 13 March 2015 and 120 people attended. They came from a variety of social, housing and health organisations, including District Health Boards, Auckland Council, government agencies, not for profits and interested individuals.
