]]>We recognise and value the diversity of human experience and strive to work innovatively to encourage positive social change, particularly in the areas of mental health and addictions.
Changing Minds is all about information, education, and systemic advocacy. We are a small not-for-profit organisation that is working on strengthening the voice of mental health and addictions service users to ensure that people are treated fairly, with dignity and respect, and that every individual is given opportunity to live their life in the way in which they choose whether they have a diagnosis of a mental health issue or not. Self-determination in connection with others is one of our core values, which is why we endeavour to empower people to make a difference within themselves and within their communities.
We also aim to assist people to navigate their way through mental health and addictions services in Auckland.
]]>Services are organised into ten teams: Community Support, including Asian and Family/Whanau support specialist sub-teams; the residential Beachhaven Rehabilitation Service; Poutama Dual Diagnosis Service; Abeo House Residential Service: Waatea Residential Service (Hamilton:) Edge Employment; Reach Out Peer Support; Mahi Marumaru AOD Peer Support Service and Housing Facilitation.
Unstress offers practical tools to recognise and manage stress.
Employment Support helps people set goals in line with their career hopes and dreams and includes individual help in finding work experience and preparing for applications and interviews.
Connect works strongly from a Values base, using them in recruitment, decision making, planning and evaluation of services.
Connect holds priorities in people development. That includes stakeholder development – service users, family/whanau and Maori – so that people can work more actively in partnership with the organisation both in individual service delivery and in organisational development.
So finally, here we are… Connect Supporting Recovery Inc., Tama Tū Tama Ora which is Standing Together In Wellness.
Vision: In Partnership towards Healthy Communities
Mission: People living satisfying lives of their Choice
