Recreate NZ was founded in 2002 by a group of Auckland-based parents of youth with disabilities.

From humble beginnings of a small not-for-profit, presently Recreate NZ runs over 250 programmes each year in Auckland, Christchurch and Waikato. Our head offices are based at 48 Windmill Road in Epsom, overlooking Mt. Eden and the local Tennis and Netball courts. Our vision for Recreate is to create a multi-purpose youth space, while also providing high quality out-of-home experiences for youth with disabilities.

With four exciting programme streams consisting of ten different programme types ranging from ½ day to 6 days in length, we have plenty of opportunities for you to enjoy.

Our programmes cater to youth who have mild to moderate intellectual disabilities. We have 3 different age categories from juniors (10-15 years), to youth (15-25 years) through to young adults (25-35 years). Recreate NZ enlists a great team of trusted, age-appropriate facilitators and volunteers to manage all programmes.

We are a youth-based organisation and we believe in young people supporting young people.
