The story of the Olympic Pools & Fitness Centre dates back to 1940 when New Zealand’s first 50 metre swimming pool was installed. In 1950 the venue played host to the Commonwealth Games – then the Empire Games – and in 1957 our waters were home to Philippa Gould, who produced New Zealand’s very first swimming world record. In 1994 we revamped and reopened the facility, keeping the building’s traditions and values alive. Today our venue is still state-of-the-art and our friendly team is helping people just like you to set their own records.
