The Waikowhai Community Trust (WCT) was extablished in June 2005 to formalise the work that had been happening in the community for over 30 years and to have a structure to work by.
WCT is committed to serving the needs of our local community. All the programmes are responses to expressed needs in the community.
In 2008 WCT was contracted by Family and Communty Services – Ministry of Social Development to establish a Early Years Service Hub (EYSH) in Mt Roskill South. The EYSH initiative aims to improve outcomes for families, especially vulnerable families with high needs children, aged from pre-birth to six years through improving acess to services and improving service co-ordination. Our Hub is called Roskill South Oasis Early Years Services Hub and with the centrality and availability of our premises in the heart of Roskill South enables our community to have easy access to a “one-stop-shop service provision”. Although our focus is primarily on families with children 0-6 years it does not stop there; we are naturally conscious of the needs of the wider family and community as well. We are:
- Child-centred and family focused
- Outcomes driven
- Partnership-based and respectful
- Built on existing services
- Community-based and accessible
- Inclusive and responsive
- Collaborative
- Preventative and evidence-based
The Hub is based at 56 Glass Road, Mt Roskill and the office is open Monday to Friday 8.30am to 4.30pm. Our staff are trained social workers and are always happy to assist you with your needs!
